for Schools
Workplace bullying and harassment continues to be a serious problem in Australian schools, and not only regarding concerns between students. Often the safety and welfare of school teachers and staff are overlooked when it comes to the risks of bullying and harassment.
Schools are defined as “workplaces” under Work Health and Safety and discrimination laws. The law requires School organisations to be proactive and take reasonable steps to prevent bullying and harassment in the workplace.
This 2-hour program is specifically designed for schools (being your “workplace”) and is be staff-focused. It will also include some elements to cover basic student-related issues and concerns as they relate to staff in schools.
Course Information
- Drive positive cultural change within both Schools by raising awareness on acceptable standards of workplace behaviour
- Provide participants with a clear understanding of what is and isn’t bullying & harassment in the workplace
- Clarify the relevant legal (and other) obligations of all staff, managers and each School with respect to bullying & harassment
- Provide guidance on prevention and “what to do?” should an issue arise
The course content/time length is flexible and can be aligned to your School’s policies and procedures and can be tailored to ensure it covers any concerns your organisation may be facing.
- Introductory TRIVIA!!! session (covering bullying & harassment)
- Bullying & harassment in your workplace & the schoolyard (what it is/isn’t)
- Types of bullying & harassment – including cyber-bullying & harassment
- Bullying v “Reasonable Management Action” – understanding the distinction
- Sexual harassment and how the law applies to schools
- Relevant legislation & key obligations for staff, management & students – and the important link to workplace health & safety (including the Fair Work Act “stop bullying orders” – if relevant)
- Costs and consequences of bullying & harassment
- Being proactive to prevent bullying and harassment
- What to do if you feel bullied or harassed at work?
- What to do if you hear, see or are made aware of inappropriate workplace behaviours within your School
- Effectively raising and dealing with concerns & complaints
- Practical tips & lessons to learn from recent Australian cases
- Q&A session to “wind up” the session.
This course is presented in plain English by lead facilitators who are legally trained with a background in workplace relations and safety law and HR.

Our in-house training service provides you with a flexible and cost-effective approach to learning where we bring our experts to you and minimise time away from the workplace. We can also arrange training sessions off-site if that is preferred.

Course prices start from $2300 (+ GST) for a 2-hour program with up to 100 attendees. The price of the course will depend on the number of attendees to be trained, the length of the session required and whether any course tailoring is required.
Discounts are available for multiple bookings and larger groups.
Our training programs are flexible, we also offer shorter Workshop sessions if required.
We conduct our sessions Australia-wide. Reasonable travel costs will apply to areas to courses conducted outside the Sydney Area.
